About Lady G II

Lady G II belongs to a generation of Italian yachts that put the owner on the main deck and never apologised for it. Mondomarine launched her in 2003 to naval architecture by Mario Grasso and an interior by Aldo Cichero, and a full refit in 2019 brought the systems and finishes current without touching what makes her distinctive. The master runs full beam on the main deck with its own private study next door, and that single decision reshapes the whole yacht: it frees the entire lower deck for guests, and it gives whoever takes the cabin a suite rather than a bedroom.

The study is worth dwelling on. It is a proper room, not a desk in an alcove, floored in figured marquetry with a green inlay motif, walled in book-matched cherry and fitted with a pedestal desk and a leather chair. The same marquetry runs through into the master, which is how the two spaces read as one. Very few 44-metre yachts still carry cabinetry of this quality, and none of the new ones do.

The rest of the interior is warm and quietly formal. Cherry joinery in a chevron pattern runs the length of the main salon, offset by pale carpet and cream upholstery, with window bands on both sides at seated height. Forward, the formal dining table seats ten under a coffered ceiling with mirrored panels. Below, four further cabins are finished in the same timber, two configured as doubles and two as twins.

On deck she is set up for the Greek islands, where she spends most of her year. The sundeck is the social centre: a bar with stools at one end, a dining table, a run of loungers and a raised jacuzzi aft with a grab rail and planters around it, all open to the horizon. The aft deck below is shaded and laid with a round table between two olive trees in planters, which is where breakfast happens. And the transom opens into a swim platform wide enough to stage the whole toy inventory at once.

That inventory is family-weighted rather than headline-chasing: two Sea-Doo jet skis, two Seabobs, two stand-up paddleboards, water skis, a wakeboard, two towable donuts, a towable sofa, snorkelling and fishing kit, beach rackets, and a five-metre Yamaha RIB tender. There is gym equipment aboard for guests who want to keep training, and zero-speed stabilisers so that nothing rolls at anchor.

Her range is 5,182 nautical miles, which is far more than her cruising ground demands and gives her the flexibility to reposition without fuss. She cruises the East Mediterranean and Adriatic in both seasons, working the Cyclades in summer and staying within reach of the same waters through winter. A crew of nine runs her, and the operation has the settled feel of a yacht that has been doing this for a while and does not need to prove anything.

The layout below rewards a group that travels together. Two of the four lower cabins are configured as VIPs, each with its own bathroom and a berth wide enough that neither feels like the consolation prize, and the two twins take singles either side of a shared nightstand with fitted wardrobes behind. Nothing is bunked and nothing is convertible, which means a party of ten is a party of ten rather than an exercise in rearranging furniture. It is an unfashionable, generous way to divide a hull, and it is the reason she books the same families back.
