About Ins Land

Patricia Urquiola does not design many yachts. That alone makes INS LAND worth a look, and the interior justifies the attention: warm oak in fine vertical battens, textured stone, ribbed glass and a palette of ochre, oxblood and sand that belongs to a Milanese apartment rather than a charter brochure. Sanlorenzo delivered her in 2022 as the SD118, with the hull and exterior by Zuccon International Project.

The layout does something clever that most 36-metre yachts cannot. The owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck, full-beam, with its own dressing room, bathroom and a compact gym area – and its own private staircase running straight up to the foredeck seating. On a yacht this size, being able to leave your cabin and arrive on a private sun deck without crossing a single guest area is close to unheard of.

Forward of the bridge, a Portuguese bridge seating area gives a second sheltered outdoor room, curved settees under an awning with the bow ahead and nothing else in view. The main deck aft is the social one – a long banquette, low tables and woven chairs a step from the swim platform. Between them, the interior runs light and open: a main salon with sofas along the beam and glazing that drops low enough to see the water sitting down, and a separate dining room aft of it with a round table for ten set beneath a sculptural spiral staircase.

Up a level, the upper deck lounge is the room that gets used. It opens through folding glass onto its own terrace, and with the doors back the two spaces read as one. There is a fold-down balcony off it as well, which turns the upper deck into a genuine outdoor room at anchor. It is the quiet alternative to the main deck when a charter group splits in two.

Accommodation covers ten guests in five en-suite cabins. Besides the owner’s suite there are two doubles and two cabins that convert between twin and double, which is the configuration that lets her take two families, a group of couples, or a mix, without anyone compromising. Bed linen, joinery and stone are consistent throughout – the guest cabins are not a downgrade from the master, just smaller.

She is a semi-displacement hull with 291 gross tonnes of volume packed into 35.75 metres, twin 1,622hp Caterpillars, 17.5 knots flat out and a comfortable 13 at cruise. Seven crew look after ten guests, which is generous at this size, and the tender garage aft carries a Williams jet tender, two jet skis and wakeboarding gear behind a hull door that folds down into a swim terrace at the waterline.

Her season runs the eastern Mediterranean – Croatia, Montenegro, the Greek islands and the Turkish coast – and she has also been offered in the western Mediterranean, so the Riviera and the Balearics are within reach.

For a charter party that cares about how a room is put together, INS LAND is unusual: a yacht where a designer with a real reputation outside yachting was given the interior and allowed to finish it properly.
