A private submarine is the rarest thing on a charter yacht and, for the small number of guests who have used one, the least forgettable. It takes you somewhere no amount of money otherwise reaches, to depths where sunlight has gone and the marine life is entirely different from anything visible on a dive.
The submersibles carried aboard charter yachts are typically two or three person acrylic-sphere craft rated to between one hundred and five hundred metres, operated by a qualified pilot who is part of the crew. A dive lasts one to three hours. The sphere gives a genuinely panoramic view rather than a porthole, and the pilot manages everything, so no certification or prior experience is required of guests. Children can usually go, subject to size and the operator rules.
The practical constraints are worth understanding early. A submarine requires a yacht with the crane capacity, deck space and hangarage to carry it, which in practice means explorer yachts and larger custom builds. Launch and recovery need calm conditions, so dives are weather dependent. Some yachts carry a submarine only for specific seasons or itineraries rather than year round, so availability needs confirming for your exact dates.
