Six cabins on a forty metre hull is the densest sensible layout in charter. Twelve guests each get a proper room on a yacht of about one hundred and thirty one feet, which is tight arithmetic. What you give up sits below the waterline, in crew quarters, storage and the size of the toy garage.
Twenty three yachts manage it. Mondomarine and Benetti lead with three hulls each, ahead of Gulf Craft, with Codecasa, Feadship, Heesen, Christensen and Perini Navi holding one apiece. The group is varied for a single length. Artexplorer and I Nova are explorers, Harle and Elena V classic displacement, Optimism and Rising Dawn recent Gulf Craft builds. Twenty two take twelve guests.
Weekly rates run from twenty seven thousand euros for Tosca to two hundred and forty thousand for Artexplorer and I Nova, with the median at one hundred and sixty five thousand and half the fleet between one hundred and twenty five and one hundred and ninety five thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of roughly thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks. The band is far wider here than at fifty metres.
The reason to accept the trade is arithmetic. Six couples split the week six ways, and the hull is still small enough to take a berth where fifty metre yachts anchor off. Summer runs the Riviera, the Balearics, the Amalfi coast and the Croatian islands. From December the fleet is in Saint Barths and the Grenadines.
