About Mamma Mia

MAMMA MIA runs a longer guest list than most yachts her size, and the layout is built around that fact rather than apologising for it. Six staterooms sleep twelve across a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, four further doubles and a pair of twins that convert with Pullman berths for children or extra friends, a configuration that suits three generations travelling together as comfortably as it does two couples splitting the cost of a week. Built by Maiora in 2008 and refitted in 2022, she has the settled, sorted feel of a yacht whose systems and finishes have already been proven rather than a fresh delivery still working out its faults.

The open-plan main deck reads as three distinct rooms rather than one long space: a lounge forward with deep white sofas set against the windows, a dedicated dining table amidships that seats the full party without borrowing chairs from elsewhere, and a second, quieter lounge grouping aft that catches the evening light differently as the sun goes down over the Aegean. It is a small distinction that matters on a boat carrying twelve guests, somewhere to eat, somewhere to gather, and somewhere to peel off in twos and threes without leaving the room entirely.

Outside, the deck plan is built for grazing through the day rather than committing to one spot. A sundeck bar sits high under the radar arch, mast and rigging framing the view out to the islands. Aft, a round teak table set for ten handles proper alfresco dinners, close enough to the swim platform that the crew can run drinks back and forth without disappearing below. A third lounge area, dressed in teal cushions against white upholstery, gives the group a place to watch the coastline slide past that isn’t the same seats used for lunch.

Eight crew run the boat for twelve guests, a deeper bench than many fleet-mates carry at this length, and it shows in the water toys alone: a 4.4-metre Zodiac tender with a 60hp outboard, two Sea-Doo Spark jet-skis, and an included Axopar 37 tender with its own skipper for longer runs ashore or a faster way to reach a restaurant across the bay. Zero-speed stabilisers keep the ride level at anchor, which matters more on a boat where a dozen guests are moving around the decks rather than a handful.

MAMMA MIA charters Greece year-round rather than being confined to the high-summer window many yachts her size are limited to, which suits guests planning around school holidays or shoulder-season weather rather than fighting for July and August dates. Every stateroom carries en-suite facilities, WiFi runs throughout, and the systems refresh in 2022 means none of it feels like it’s coasting on an original 2008 specification.

What MAMMA MIA offers that’s harder to find below 45 metres is genuine capacity without genuine crowding: six real cabins, three separate social spaces on the main deck, and a crew big enough to run all of it properly. For a large family or a pair of families chartering together, that’s the difference between a week that works and a week spent negotiating for space.
