A sauna at eighty metres is not squeezed into a leftover corner. It is a purpose built room, often finished in cedar or hemlock, with adjustable temperature controls and views out to sea through hull glazing. Fifteen yachts in the eighty metre band carry a sauna, and the list includes some of the most technically advanced charter yachts afloat.
The fleet ranges from Titania at six hundred and fifteen thousand euros a week to Angelique at one million two hundred thousand. La Datcha, the Damen SeaXplorer built for polar and tropical expedition charters, pairs her sauna with an ice plunge and a certified dive centre. Solandge and O’Pari carry saunas within spa complexes that occupy entire deck sections. Starfire and Stella Maris offer seven cabins for twelve to fourteen guests with saunas alongside gyms and steam rooms.
Weekly rates start at six hundred and fifteen thousand euros, and seven of the fifteen charter below seven hundred and fifty thousand. The advance provisioning allowance adds roughly thirty percent for fuel, food, berthing and drinks. Demand peaks in August and over New Year, with shoulder weeks in May, June and October offering lower rates.
Most of this fleet works the western Mediterranean in summer, with the Riviera, Sardinia, Corsica and the Balearics forming the core circuit. Several yachts range east into Greece, Turkey and the Adriatic, and La Datcha operates globally, including the Norwegian fjords and the Pacific.
