Nine guests is an awkward number on paper and a common one in practice. Charter yachts are built around pairs of berths, so the ninth guest is almost always carried by a pullman, a convertible single or a cabin that sleeps three. It is the configuration families ask for, and the one that suits a group travelling with a child, a grandparent or a nanny.
Thirty eight yachts in our charter fleet are certified for nine, running from twenty four metres to fifty seven and a half, with the median near forty one. Most carry five cabins and a handful four. The group is unusually varied. It holds Benetti and Feadship motor yachts, sailing yachts from Alloy, Royal Huisman and Southern Wind, Sunreef catamarans, the explorer Big Fish, and Malahne, the 1937 Camper and Nicholsons restored over four years in Devon.
Weekly rates begin near fifty eight thousand euros and reach three hundred thousand, with the median close to a hundred and twenty thousand, plus an advance provisioning allowance around thirty percent covering fuel, food, berthing and drinks.
Because the fleet spans sail, motor, catamaran and classic, the question is less about size than about the kind of week you want.
