Kayaks are the quiet option, and a hundred and fifty eight yachts in our charter fleet carry them. The group has a median length of fifty three metres and runs from twenty five metres up to the hundred and nineteen metre Breakthrough.
A kayak goes where a tender cannot. Shallow caves, mangrove channels, the shoreline of a bay at dawn before anything else is moving. Sit on top designs dominate on charter because they are stable and easy to get back onto from deep water, and most yachts carry two singles or a double stowed on the swim platform. A hundred and twenty nine are motor yachts and twenty nine are sailing. Feadship and Benetti lead with eleven each, followed by Perini Navi with seven, and CRN and Turquoise with six.
Rates run from eighteen thousand five hundred euros a week to three and a half million, with the median at two hundred and forty five thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of around thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks. Kayaks add nothing to the running cost and need no crew to launch, so they are always available.
The best kayaking is where the coast is broken and sheltered. The Ionian, the Turkish coast, the north of Sardinia and the mangroves of the Grenadines all reward it. Send us your dates and we will show you what is available.
