The motor fleet for charter in Italian waters runs from sleek 30-metre day-boats to 70-metre superyachts, with the strongest volume between 40 and 60 metres. Around 36 motor yachts in the fleet carry Italian waters in their sailing areas, crewed by captains familiar with the lagoon’s shallow channels and tidal range. Venice itself must be approached by tender or water taxi from an anchorage outside the Lagoon, and planning arrivals carefully with your captain and broker is essential.
Weekly charter rates for motor yachts in this region range from around 50,000 to 400,000 euros, with the median closer to 150,000. The advance provisioning allowance, typically 30 percent, covers fuel, a significant cost on a motor yacht itinerary in the Adriatic, as well as food, drinks, berthing and local transit taxes. Peak season runs June through August.
The Adriatic itinerary from Venice divides naturally into two arms: south-east towards the Po Delta and then down to Ravenna and the Marche coast, or east into Croatian waters, passing the Brioni islands and the walled city of Rovinj before threading south through the Kornati national park.
