When should we charter around Porto-Vecchio?

June through September gives the warmest, most reliable weather, though July and August bring the summer crowds that fill the marina and the beach clubs along Golfo di Sogno. May and late September offer a quieter gulf with water still warm enough for swimming. Outside these months the town empties out considerably, and several waterfront restaurants close for the season.

How do we get to Porto-Vecchio?

Figari-Sud Corse Airport (FSC) is the nearest, about 22 kilometres and a 26-minute drive southwest of town, with seasonal connections to France and other parts of Europe. Bastia and Ajaccio provide alternative arrival points with broader year-round schedules but longer transfers. Charter guests already cruising the Strait of Bonifacio can also arrive by yacht directly into the marina.

What are the best anchorages near Porto-Vecchio?

Santa Giulia’s near-enclosed lagoon and Palombaggia’s pine-backed bay are the best known, both holding well in sand at three to seven metres. Cala Rossa, deeper into the gulf, tends to be calmer and less crowded, while Golfo di Sogno puts guests closer to the beach clubs. All four sit within a short tender ride or a single short sail of one another.

How many days should we plan for Porto-Vecchio?

Two to three days lets guests split time between the beaches, the old town and an inland excursion to the Aiguilles de Bavella, without feeling rushed. Porto-Vecchio works well as a base for exploring the wider gulf, including the Îles Cerbicale reserve and the approach to Bonifacio further south. Extend to four or five days for a slower pace or to wait out any weather.

Is Porto-Vecchio good for nightlife?

It has the liveliest scene in southern Corsica during peak season, centred on Via Notte, an open-air club south of town that fills up through July and August.
