May, June and September offer the mildest, sunniest weather without the peak-season crowds that fill the marinas in July and August, when Sanremo shares the wider Riviera’s busiest weeks with Monaco and Cannes just along the coast. Winter stays mild by northern European standards, though most charters run from late spring through early autumn.
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE), about 48km west across the French border, has by far the best international connections and is the airport most charter guests use. Riviera Airport at Villanova d’Albenga is technically closer at around 38km, but with far fewer scheduled flights, and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo (GOA), roughly 108km east, is a third option for guests already routing through Italy.
Portosole Marina, right in the city centre, offers the most convenient berths with easy walking access to the casino and old town, while Porto Vecchio just next door provides a smaller, more traditional alternative. For a quieter overnight stop, the roadstead off Capo Verde just west of the city gives a sheltered, less built-up outlook.
Two to three days lets you enjoy the city itself, explore La Pigna’s old town and make an easy day trip toward Monaco or the French border, all without feeling rushed. Guests treating Sanremo as a base for the wider Italian and French Rivieras often stay longer, using its central position and well-equipped marinas as a comfortable home port.
It can. The Festival di Sanremo, Italy’s biggest music event since 1951, runs 16 to 20 February 2027 at the Teatro Ariston and fills the city’s hotels, restaurants and marina berths for the week, so a February charter should plan around the crowds rather than expect a quiet stop. Outside that week, Sanremo’s charter season runs as normal from spring through autumn.
