MOONLIGHT is a Sunseeker 88 Yacht, delivered new in 2021, and she is a good example of what the British yard does best: a fast, good looking motor yacht that is easy to charter and covers a lot of ground. At 26 metres she sits at the point where a yacht is still nimble enough to slip into a small bay yet large enough to carry a warm, full interior and a proper crew. Her planing hull gives her a genuine turn of speed, which is what makes her so well suited to the Balearics, where the best of Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera can be strung together in a single week.
Eight guests sleep in four cabins. The master is a full beam double amidships in warm oak, a large bed below hull windows that bring the sea into the room, a seating corner and a private bathroom, a space with more volume and light than the length suggests. A VIP double and two further cabins run below, each with an ensuite, finished in the same warm oak and soft neutrals so the accommodation feels of a piece, making up easily for couples or children travelling with the group. A crew of four runs her, a strong number at this size.
The main deck is built around one warm, light salon. A long sofa and soft seating gather around a low table with glass down both sides, and full doors aft slide open to the shaded deck so the room runs straight out to the sea at anchor. A dining table sits forward under the same oak ceiling with the coast in view through dinner, and a second lounge forward gives the salon a quieter corner off the main seating. It is a straightforward, comfortable interior that suits the relaxed, active way she is meant to be used.
Outside, MOONLIGHT spreads her guests across the decks. The flybridge is the social heart of the yacht, running wide with a dining table, a bar and sun lounging under and around the hardtop, high above the sea with a long view over the coast. The foredeck opens out with a wide sun pad forward for a quieter spot away from the group, and the main aft deck carries shaded seating close to the swim platform. The layout keeps eight guests comfortably spread across a 26 metre yacht through the day.
A tender and a spread of watersports gear come with the yacht, from towable toys to paddleboards and snorkelling equipment, launched off the stern for a day in the water. Her speed is part of the appeal: she is quick enough to run guests out to a distant cove for lunch and back, or to move the whole holiday to a new island overnight, which suits families and groups of friends who want to see more of a cruising ground in a week rather than circling the same few bays.
Her home water is the Balearics, based out of Mallorca, and she is well matched to it. The clear anchorages of the Mallorcan coast, the beach clubs of Ibiza and the long sandbars of Formentera sit within easy runs of one another, and her pace makes the crossings between them straightforward. With her warm interior, her flybridge and her turn of speed, MOONLIGHT suits a family or a group of friends who want an active week on the best islands in the western Mediterranean.
