KOGO is a 71.7-metre motor yacht delivered by the French shipyard Alstom Leroux Naval in 2006 and brought fully up to date with a comprehensive refit completed in 2025. Her name, taken from a Japanese lacquered box traditionally used to store incense and valuable items, sets the tone for a yacht built around calm, considered design rather than overt display, and her achievements back that ambition: KOGO won the World Superyacht of the Year award in 2007 and remains one of the most respected names on the charter market two decades on.
The collaboration behind her is exceptional. Tim Heywood penned her timeless exterior lines, Terence Disdale Design created interiors he described as having clean, modern lines with a Zen influence, and naval architecture came from Burness Corlett Three Quays. That Zen influence is visible throughout the yacht in details such as Japanese wood carving and occasional tatami matting, set against a calm, light-filled material palette that has aged remarkably well.
KOGO was also ahead of her time mechanically. She was one of the first yachts of her size to be built with twin Azipod drives coupled to a diesel-electric propulsion system, giving her exceptional manoeuvrability and efficiency that remain genuinely useful for owners and charterers wanting to reach less conventional cruising grounds. Her ice-classed steel hull and aluminium superstructure, built to Lloydu2019s classification and MCA compliance, give her real long-range, long-season capability alongside her refined interiors.
Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests across seven staterooms, comprising a master suite, two VIP suites, two further doubles and two twins, every cabin fitted with its own entertainment system and en-suite bathroom. The spacious main saloon, with its inviting U-shaped seating, flows naturally into pre-dinner gatherings before guests move through to a dining room that comfortably seats up to 18 for more formal occasions.
Entertainment and wellness have been substantially expanded in the recent refit. KOGO now offers two cinemas, one indoors and one outdoors, a wellness suite with a dedicated massage room and steam facility, and a custom sound system built for genuine party nights. A sun deck Jacuzzi, spa and gym round out the relaxation offering, while a spacious beach club gives guests easy, sociable access to the water.
KOGO carries an extensive toy collection befitting a yacht of her range and ambition, supported by a crew of 21 who manage everything from quiet family weeks to full-scale celebrations with equal ease. With a cruising range of around 5,000 nautical miles, she is equally at home crossing oceans or settling into a single region for an extended charter season. She is fully licensed to charter in Greek waters and will spend the coming summer cruising the Eastern Mediterranean, giving guests access to one of yachtingu2019s most decorated and quietly capable charter yachts.
