Eighty metres is where a charter yacht crosses into the top tier of the global fleet. At roughly two hundred and sixty two feet, only a few hundred yachts worldwide reach this length, and few of those are offered for charter. Five decks, a crew of twenty to thirty and interior volume measured in thousands of gross tons change what a week on the water can be.
The scale shows in what becomes possible rather than simply in what is larger. Owner decks with private terraces and a study, a beach club spanning the full beam with sea level access on three sides, a spa with sauna, steam and treatment rooms, a cinema and certified helidecks. Tender fleets run to five or six craft, including limousine tenders, chase boats and submersibles on yachts such as La Datcha and Kensho.
Weekly rates across our eighty metre fleet run from around five hundred thousand euros to one million eight hundred thousand, with the median close to eight hundred thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of roughly thirty percent sits on top, and fuel becomes a serious line item at this displacement. Build year, interior designer and a settled senior crew move the number more than length alone.
These yachts follow the season across hemispheres. The Western Mediterranean and the Greek islands through summer, then Saint Barths, Antigua and the Bahamas from December, with a growing number based in the Maldives, Indonesia and the South Pacific.
