Five cabins on a thirty six metre yacht is the most efficient arrangement in the mid size charter fleet. It takes nine or ten guests comfortably, occasionally twelve, and it does so on a hull small enough to berth in the harbours that a fifty metre yacht has to admire from the anchorage.
Eight yachts hold this configuration, all of them between thirty six and thirty seven metres. Benetti accounts for three with Quest R, ALLORA and Edesia, and Tansu, Mulder, ISA, Sanlorenzo and Huzur Yat take one each with Preference 19, Calypso I, Back 9 and a Half, Away and Harun. Every one of them is a motor yacht. Guest numbers split evenly between nine and ten, with Quest R certified for twelve.
Rates are unusually consistent. The whole group charters between ninety five thousand and one hundred and twenty thousand euros a week, with the median at one hundred and two thousand five hundred. Away is the most expensive at one hundred and twenty thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of roughly thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks, and fuel stays modest at this size.
Thirty six metres is the length at which the Amalfi coast, the Balearics and the Greek islands all stay open in August, because the yacht still fits inside Portofino, Bonifacio and Hydra.
