Phuket is the gateway to some of the finest sailing water in Southeast Asia. The Andaman Sea, under the northeast monsoon from November through April, produces consistent 15 to 20 knot conditions that make ocean passages to the Similan Islands, the Phi Phi Islands, and the outer reefs both comfortable and genuinely enjoyable. Sailing yachts based in Phuket, principally from Ao Chalong and Royal Phuket Marina, are well positioned to cover the full range of the Andaman’s attractions in a single week.
The sailing fleet for Phuket ranges from 15 to 45 metres, with modern performance cruisers, bluewater catamarans, and larger crewed sailing yachts all represented. Guest capacities typically run from four to twelve in two to six cabins, with crew of two to five.
Weekly rates begin at around 45,000 Euros and can reach 390,000 Euros for larger performance vessels. The advance provisioning allowance of approximately 30 percent covers food, fuel for motoring in calms, and any national park fees for the Similans.
November and March are the shoulder months, offering strong sailing conditions with quieter anchorages and marginally lower rates that come with reduced season demand.
