The best dive sites are rarely the ones reachable from a hotel. They sit at the far end of an atoll, on a seamount two hours offshore, or along a reef pass that only opens on the right tide, and the only practical way to be there at slack water is to have spent the night on top of it. A dive-equipped charter yacht is the answer to that problem.
What separates a genuinely dive-ready yacht from one that merely lists diving is equipment and crew. Look for an onboard compressor, ideally two for redundancy, with fill capacity matched to your group and your dive plan. A nitrox membrane matters if you intend to dive repetitively across a week. A dedicated dive tender with low freeboard and a proper ladder makes entries and exits straightforward, and a rinse tank and drying area keep the rest of the yacht civilised.
Crew matter as much as kit. Most dive-equipped yachts carry at least one instructor or divemaster, and the better ones carry a dedicated dive team who know the sites, the currents and the local operators. Charter guests are normally expected to hold an open water certification as a minimum, with advanced or nitrox required for deeper sites.
