Paxos and Antipaxos are among the smallest and most scenically concentrated islands in the Ionian group, sitting just 12 kilometres south of Corfu. The coastline is limestone carved into arches, caves and blowholes, and the water runs from deep emerald to pale turquoise depending on depth and time of day. The Blue Caves on Antipaxos are the headline anchorage: the water reflects an extraordinary shade of blue inside the cave mouth at midday. Voutoumi beach on Antipaxos holds some of the finest sand in the Mediterranean. Gaios, the main port on Paxos, is sheltered and well-serviced for provisioning and evening dining ashore.
