Poros is one of the most accessible charter bases in Greece. It sits at the mouth of the Saronic Gulf, separated from the Peloponnese mainland by a channel barely 200 metres wide at its narrowest point. The town clock tower and the pine-covered hills above it are visible for miles and make the island immediately recognisable. Hydra is 40 minutes from Poros by tender and is the most scenically complete island in the Saronic: no cars, no scooters and a waterfront of late-18th-century merchant houses. Dokos island between Hydra and Spetses has no permanent population, one beach, and some of the clearest anchorage water in the area. Spetses old port is well-serviced for evening dining within walking distance of the quay.
