Ibiza Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Ibiza, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When's the best time to sail around Ibiza?

June and September give the most reliable conditions: warm water, settled winds and lighter crowds than the July and August peak, when marinas and popular coves like Cala Comte fill quickly. The main hospitality season runs roughly April to October, so a spring or autumn charter still finds beach clubs and restaurants open while anchorages stay easier to reach and berths easier to book.

How do you get to Ibiza for a yacht charter?

Ibiza Airport (IBZ) sits about 7 kilometres south of Ibiza Town, roughly a 15-minute drive from the marinas at Marina Botafoch and Ibiza Nueva. Direct flights run from most major European cities through the summer season, though connections thin out considerably in winter. Guests joining a charter already under way can also arrive by fast ferry from Formentera, Mallorca or mainland Barcelona.

Which anchorages should a first-time visitor prioritise?

Cala Comte and Cala Salada on the west coast are the standard for clear water and dramatic sunsets, best reached outside the midday charter-boat rush. Cala d’Hort adds the draw of Es Vedrà rising 382 metres out of the sea just offshore. For an overnight stay close to town, Talamanca Bay keeps guests within a short tender ride of Ibiza Town’s restaurants and the ramparts of Dalt Vila.

How many days should we plan for an Ibiza charter?

Four to five days covers the west coast highlights at an easy pace, from Cala Comte to Cala d’Hort, with time ashore in Dalt Vila and a night in Ibiza Town. Extend to a week or more to add a crossing to Formentera, around 45 minutes away, or to combine Ibiza with Mallorca or Menorca as part of a wider Balearic itinerary.

Is it true boats can't land on Es Vedrà?

Es Vedrà and the surrounding Illots de Ponent form a protected nature reserve within the Cala d’Hort Natural Reserve, and landing on the islet itself is restricted. Yachts can still anchor and swim in the bay facing it, and the view from the water, an uninhabited limestone islet rising 382 metres straight out of the sea, is the real draw. Local skippers time the approach for late afternoon, when the light turns the rock a deep gold.
