Mljet Superyacht Charter

Mljet is one of the greenest and most beautiful islands in Croatia, a lush and forested isle in the southern Adriatic celebrated for its national park of saltwater lakes and pristine nature. Peaceful, unspoilt and richly scenic, it offers one of the loveliest natural retreats on the entire Dalmatian coast.

The island’s western end is a protected national park, where two connected saltwater lakes lie surrounded by dense pine forest. On an islet in the larger lake stands a beautiful twelfth-century Benedictine monastery, one of the most idyllic and photographed sights in Croatia.

Beyond the park, Mljet offers clear coves, quiet beaches and a beautiful, deeply indented coastline ideal for swimming and anchoring. Legend links the island to Odysseus, who is said to have been enchanted here, and its natural beauty makes the tale easy to believe.

Ashore, small villages and welcoming tavernas serve fresh fish, local wine and olive oil, while walking and cycling trails wind through the fragrant forest. The island’s tranquillity and beauty are deeply restorative.

With its forested slopes, saltwater lakes and clear coves, Mljet is a jewel of the Adriatic. Guests can anchor in beautiful bays, explore an idyllic national park and enjoy the lush, unspoilt beauty of one of Croatia’s loveliest islands.

Mljet Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Mljet, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When's the best time to charter around Mljet?

The Adriatic season runs from May to October, with June and September offering the most comfortable balance of warm water and quieter anchorages. July and August are busiest, both on the water and at the national park entrance.

How do you reach Mljet, given it has no airport?

The nearest airport is Dubrovnik (DBV), around ninety minutes by road and ferry from the mainland crossing points at Sobra or Prapratno. Most charters simply sail in from Dubrovnik or Korčula, both a short passage away.

Where are the best anchorages around Mljet?

Pomena and Polače sit closest to the national park and its lakes, while Saplunara in the southeast offers sandy, sheltered coves away from the crowds. A mooring inside Veliko Jezero itself puts you a short paddle from the monastery islet.

How much time should I set aside for Mljet?

One to two days does the island justice, enough for the national park and a swim at Saplunara. Most guests fold Mljet into a wider south Dalmatian route, pairing it with Korčula, the Pelješac peninsula and Dubrovnik.

Do I need a permit to enter Mljet National Park by yacht?

Yes. Entry into the national park area, including Veliko and Malo Jezero, requires a ticket, sold at park kiosks and covering both admission and use of the designated mooring buoys inside the lake. Rates are set annually by the park authority and are best checked ahead, as anchoring outside the buoy field is not permitted.
