Jeddah Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Jeddah, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When is the best time of year for a yacht charter in Jeddah?

Winter through spring, roughly October to April, offers the most comfortable temperatures for a charter, with daytime highs typically in the twenties and evenings cool enough to enjoy time on deck. The Red Sea itself stays warm year-round, so diving and swimming remain enjoyable even in the cooler months, while the peak of summer brings intense heat and humidity that most guests prefer to avoid.

What's the closest airport to Jeddah's marinas?

King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is Jeddah’s main gateway, about 20 minutes by car from the Corniche marinas in normal traffic, longer during rush hour. It’s one of the busiest airports in the region, so guests arriving on international flights can usually connect directly to their charter without an overnight stop in the city, though many choose to spend a night in Al-Balad first.

Which anchorages should we build into a Jeddah itinerary?

Obhur Creek and Sharm Obhur, both roughly forty-five minutes north of the city, make sheltered overnight stops away from Jeddah’s busier waterfront. Red Sea Marina in Obhur is useful for provisioning and fuel, while the reef off Bayada Island is worth a day anchorage for snorkeling before heading back toward the city or further south along the coast.

How many days should we plan for a Red Sea charter from Jeddah?

Around seven days is typical for a Red Sea charter based out of Jeddah, enough to combine the city’s marinas and historic Corniche with a run down to the Farasan Banks and the reefs beyond. Shorter three or four day trips work well for guests focused mainly on diving close to Jeddah itself.

Do you need special permits to charter a yacht along the Saudi coast?

Yes. Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea authorities now require a technical tourism license for yacht operators and a separate voyage permit for each trip, covering the passenger manifest, itinerary and charter contract. The rules were introduced in 2024 as the Kingdom opens its coastline to more tourism, and we handle this paperwork as part of planning your charter so it’s one less thing to worry about.
