About Alta

ALTA has been Dumb Luck and Four Wishes before settling on the name she carries now, and a 2021 interior overhaul by Patrick Knowles gave her a fourth identity again: a modern beach house built on a 2004 Palmer Johnson hull, with a full exterior repaint in 2024 keeping the outside as fresh as the inside.

The full-beam master suite runs the width of the yacht, its own study tucked to one side and a wardrobe built for a season’s worth of luggage rather than a week’s. Down the corridor, a genuinely useful office nook gives a guest somewhere to answer email without colonising the saloon, an unglamorous addition that charter guests who work remotely will notice immediately. Five further staterooms cover three king configurations and two that convert between a king and twin beds, plus a bonus cabin off the skylounge for a twelfth guest or a nanny travelling with the family.

The main saloon leans into the beach-house brief literally, driftwood-toned floors, navy and white upholstery, and framed artwork that turns out to be a running motif through several staterooms rather than a one-off flourish. A separate bar, black granite and cream leather stools, sits just off the saloon with its own sea view, and the formal dining table seats the full party under a coffered ceiling. Outside, the aft deck does the same job under open sky, a round table for six backed by a built-in sofa just steps from the saloon doors, and a second table further aft catches the breeze off the water.

The sundeck carries a jacuzzi, sunpads and a shaded lounge, while the real departure from a standard sundeck layout sits at the stern: a proper beach club with its own gym, opening straight onto the swim platform for a workout with a view rather than a windowless room belowdecks. A Seabob and waverunner program, an inflatable cabana, and an 11.5-metre Intrepid tender with triple outboards round out a toy locker built for a genuinely active week, backed by a second tender for the quieter trips ashore.

Zero-speed stabilisers keep things level at anchor, and twin engines give her a 15.5-knot top speed, modest by modern standards but matched to a nine-person crew that runs a tight, well-drilled program rather than a large one. Nine crew is a lean number for a boat this active, and it shows in a charter reputation built on consistency rather than scale. ALTA charters both sides of the Mediterranean, the west through France and Italy and the east through Croatia, before repositioning to the Caribbean and Bahamas for winter, a genuinely dual-hemisphere season rather than a single relocation each year.

She suits a group that wants a beach house feel without giving up a proper dining room, a working office, or a beach club with an actual gym in it, the kind of yacht that reads casual in her finishes but is considered underneath, right down to the guest cabin that quietly converts to fit whoever shows up that week.
