About BLUE MOON

A 44.8-metre yacht that draws 1.91 metres and runs at 27 knots is not a normal combination. BLUE MOON was built by Admiral at Marina di Carrara in 2014 on an aluminium hull and superstructure with three MTU diesels behind a planing bottom, and the numbers she produces belong to a boat two-thirds her size. In the eastern Mediterranean, where the good anchorages are shallow and the distances between them are longer than the charts suggest, that pairing is the whole argument.

Luca Dini drew her exterior: a metallic blue hull, a long uninterrupted sheer and a superstructure that leans back rather than stacking up. Dobroserdov Design took the interior in a different direction – dark macassar, bronze mesh, lacquered ceilings and a tight palette of cream and scarlet. The two halves work because neither is trying to be the other.

The main saloon is arranged around a low bronze table with facing white sofas and scarlet cushions, glazed almost the full length of both sides. Forward, behind a curtained threshold, the dining room is the room people remember: ten upholstered chairs around a long table, set against a full bronze wall panel that catches the light from the windows opposite. It is a genuinely separate room rather than a dining end, which at this length is worth having.

Her master suite is on the main deck, forward, and it is the best space aboard by a distance. A private balcony folds out of the hull side, with a small teak terrace and two chairs at sea level. Inside there is a Technogym resistance machine, his-and-hers walk-in wardrobes and a dressing room, and an ensuite in white onyx and black marble with twin basins, a tub and a walk-in shower. Below, two VIP staterooms and two convertible twins – all ensuite – take her to ten guests in five cabins.

The sundeck is the social centre. A moulded jacuzzi with contoured seats, headrests and jets sits amidships under the hardtop, ringed by sunpads and blue and orange cushions, with a teak dining table for ten and a bar just forward of it. Aft on the same level, a covered lounge with a yin-yang inlay in the deckhead runs to sofas, low tables and a second dining setting – so a group of ten can spread across two ends of one deck rather than crowding a single table.

Down at the waterline her beach club opens across the transom, with direct access to the water and to a toy store that runs to jet skis, Seabobs, an inflatable swim platform with a netted sea pool, wakeboards and towables. The chase boat is a 2026 Axopar 37 Brabus Line Suntop with a dedicated captain, which means the group can be in two places at once. Zero-speed stabilisers work underway and at anchor.

Eight crew look after ten guests. She cruises at 22 knots, tops out at 27, and works Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro from a Mediterranean base. For a group that wants to cover ground quickly, get into water other 45-metre yachts cannot reach, and have the master suite feel like a genuine apartment rather than a cabin, BLUE MOON is a specific and unusual answer.
