Porto Vecchio in southern Corsica anchors one of the most rewarding short-range charter circuits in the western Mediterranean, combining the white beaches of the Golfe de Porto Vecchio with the nature reserve of the Lavezzi Islands and the cliff-top citadel of Bonifacio. A 34 metre charter yacht covers this area effectively: the vessel anchors in the Baie de Santa Giulia and off Palombaggia beach by day and returns to Porto Vecchio port for evening dining at the upper town restaurants. Weekly rates for 34 metre yachts in this region range from approximately 35,000 euros to 65,000 euros, with the advance provisioning allowance of 30 percent covering provisioning from the Porto Vecchio market, berthing at the marina and fuel for passages to Sardinia and the Lavezzi. The Bocche di Bonifacio, the strait between Corsica and Sardinia, is a nature reserve and one of the finest snorkelling and freediving environments in the Mediterranean, with granite formations, posidonia meadows and a clear water visibility that regularly exceeds 20 metres.
