Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades and the most self-contained: its interior produces olive oil, citrus, potatoes and the famous local liqueur, its marble was quarried for Archaic statues, and the Portara sea gate at the harbour entrance is the most photographed doorframe in Greece. A motor yacht charter here combines all of this with a fleet position that opens Paros, Mykonos and the smaller back islands of the Cyclades in under three hours at cruising speed. The island’s position at the centre of the Cyclades makes it the most efficient pivot point for a week’s cruising: head north to Mykonos and Delos, south to the back islands of Koufonisia and Schinoussa, east to the Ikaria and Fourni channels, or west to Paros and the Antiparos cave. Motor yachts handle the summer swell on open-water transits with far greater comfort than sailing yachts of similar length, making longer day passages viable without disrupting meals or sleep on board.
