The Dalmatian season runs from May to October. July and August bring the warmest water and liveliest atmosphere; June and September offer the best balance of settled weather, comfortable temperatures and quieter anchorages. The afternoon maestral breeze keeps conditions pleasant through summer.
Very easy. Šolta lies just nine nautical miles south of Split, a short and sheltered passage. Most charters begin at Split or nearby Marina Kaštela, both minutes from Split Airport (SPU), which connects to major European cities through the summer.
Maslinica, on the western tip, is the standout, sheltered by seven small islets. Šešula Bay nearby offers calm holding and a well-known taverna, while the southern coves stay quiet even in high season. Stomorska and Rogač provide harbour moorings and easy access ashore.
Yes. Šolta rewards a slow two to three days on its own, though most guests fold it into a wider central-Dalmatian route, pairing it with Brač, Hvar and Vis over a week. Its position just off Split makes it an easy first or final stop.
It can, and many charters do exactly that, but an overnight at Maslinica changes the experience entirely. Once the day boats leave, the bay empties and the island’s quieter character comes through, best appreciated with dinner ashore and an early swim the next morning.
