Kyparissi Superyacht Charter

Kyparissi is one of the most beautiful and remote villages on the coast of the Peloponnese, a hidden gem tucked between soaring mountains and the clear blue waters of the Myrtoan Sea. Long isolated and reachable until recently only by boat, it retains a wonderfully unspoilt and authentic charm.

The village nestles at the foot of dramatic cliffs, its handful of houses, tavernas and tiny harbours set against a backdrop of towering grey rock and green slopes. The setting is spectacular, combining the drama of the mountains with the serenity of a clear, sheltered bay.

Kyparissi’s crystal-clear water and quiet pebble coves are ideal for swimming, while its peaceful atmosphere offers a genuine escape from the modern world. With only a scattering of visitors, it remains one of the most tranquil and unspoilt anchorages in Greece.

Ashore, simple tavernas serve fresh local produce, and walking trails climb into the dramatic mountains behind. The sense of remoteness and natural beauty is profound.

With its dramatic setting, clear water and unspoilt charm, Kyparissi is a hidden treasure of the Peloponnese. Guests can anchor beneath towering cliffs, swim in crystal-clear coves and savour the peace of one of the most beautiful and secluded villages in Greece.

Kyparissi Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Kyparissi, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When is the best time to charter around Kyparissi?

May through September gives the most settled conditions, though this stretch of the Myrtoan Sea can still catch a strong Meltemi funnelling down from the north Aegean in July and August. Paralia Bay stays reasonably sheltered, but Fokiano and the more open coves are best visited on calmer days. June and September combine warm water with quieter anchorages, since Kyparissi sees only a fraction of the traffic found further north around the Argolic Gulf.

How do you reach Kyparissi if you're not arriving by yacht?

Kyparissi has no airport of its own; the nearest options are Kalamata, about two and a half hours away by a mountain road that only opened as a proper coastal route in 2018, or Athens, roughly four hours by car. Because the drive is long regardless of starting point, most charter guests simply join their yacht already under way at a nearby destination such as Monemvasia rather than travelling overland first.

Which cove is best for an overnight stop at Kyparissi?

Paralia Bay, directly below the village, offers the most shelter and the easiest access to tavernas ashore. Agia Kyriaki, a little further along the coast, is quieter still and backed by striking rock formations rather than buildings. Fokiano, a short cruise south, opens onto clearer, greener water but lies more exposed, so it suits a calm-weather stop rather than an overnight in any wind.

How long should we spend at Kyparissi?

One night is usually enough to swim at Paralia and Agia Kyriaki and enjoy a taverna dinner by the water, since the village itself is small enough to see within an afternoon. Guests who enjoy hiking sometimes add a second day for the coastal path toward Agios Georgios. Most itineraries treat Kyparissi as a peaceful stop between the larger draws of Monemvasia and the Mani peninsula.

Why did Kyparissi stay so isolated for so long?

Hemmed in by the Parnonas mountains on one side and the Myrtoan Sea on the other, Kyparissi had no proper road connection at all until September 2018, when a coastal route finally linked it to Leonidio; before that, most visitors and supplies arrived by boat. That late arrival of easy overland access is exactly why chartering in still feels like reaching somewhere few people have found, with barely four hundred residents spread across its three small hamlets.
