Southern Sardinia’s sailing season runs roughly May through October, with the calmest, warmest water from June to September. The sea rarely drops below the low twenties Celsius during high summer, and July and August bring the busiest anchorages and the fullest calendar at Forte Arena. Late May, June and September offer quieter beaches and lower marina rates while keeping reliably warm water, making them the better choice for a relaxed few days ashore.
Cagliari Elmas Airport (CAG) is the closest international gateway, roughly 40 minutes by road from Santa Margherita di Pula, with charter guests typically tendering ashore or berthing nearby rather than flying directly into the resort. Cagliari handles a wide range of European connections, and a private transfer along the coast road takes in views of the Golfo di Cagliari before arriving at the resort’s private beach.
The coastline either side of the resort holds some of Sardinia’s best-known beaches: Tuerredda’s turquoise shallows, the dune-backed sweep of Chia, and the quieter Cala Cipolla tucked beneath low cliffs. Further west, the Golfo di Teulada and the lighthouse at Capo Spartivento offer more exposed, open-water anchorages for a day away from the busier southern beaches, with far fewer boats.
Two to three days is enough to enjoy the resort’s beach, spa and academies alongside a few hours exploring the nearby coast, though many charter guests fold it into a longer southern Sardinia itinerary that also takes in Cagliari and the Sarrabus coast. Families booking academy sessions in advance sometimes stay closer to a week, since the football, rugby and tennis programmes run structured multi-day courses rather than single sessions.
Yes. Forte Village welcomes day guests to its football, rugby and tennis academies, its Acquaforte Thalasso Spa and, in summer, ticketed shows at the 5,000-seat Forte Arena, which has hosted performers including Andrea Bocelli and Sting. Charter guests typically tender ashore for a session or a show and return to the yacht afterwards, so it’s worth booking academy slots or arena tickets in advance during the July and August peak.
