Grenada Superyacht Charter

Grenada is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt islands in the eastern Caribbean, a lush and fragrant land known as the Spice Island for its plantations of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Combining golden beaches, rainforested mountains and a charming colonial capital, it offers a colourful and rewarding cruising destination.

The island’s capital, St George’s, is widely regarded as one of the prettiest harbour towns in the Caribbean, its horseshoe of pastel buildings and historic fort rising above a beautiful natural harbour. Beyond the town lie golden beaches, above all the famous Grand Anse, along with lush interior mountains, waterfalls and spice plantations.

Grenada’s surrounding waters offer clear turquoise seas, vibrant reefs and the world’s first underwater sculpture park, superb for swimming, snorkelling and diving. Beautiful beaches, sheltered bays and the nearby Grenadine islands provide countless anchorages.

Ashore, the island offers celebrated spices, fresh cuisine and a warm, unhurried welcome, along with lush scenery and rich culture. Its blend of natural beauty and charm is appealing.

With its golden beaches, rainforests and fragrant spices, Grenada is a colourful jewel of the Caribbean. Guests can explore a beautiful harbour capital, snorkel an underwater sculpture park and enjoy the spices, beaches and lush beauty of the Spice Island.

Grenada Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Grenada, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When's the best time to charter around Grenada?

December through May brings the driest weather and the calmest seas for sailing up to the Grenadines. Grenada sits at the southern edge of the hurricane belt and is rarely hit directly, a reason many charter yachts base here through the June-to-November season when islands further north stand more exposed. Hurricane Ivan’s direct strike in September 2004 was the exception rather than the rule, the island’s worst storm in decades.

How easy is it to fly into Grenada?

Maurice Bishop International Airport, on the southwest tip near True Blue and Point Salines, takes direct flights from the UK, US, Canada and around the Caribbean, making Grenada one of the more accessible bases in the Windward Islands for guests joining a yacht already in the water. Its position at the southern end of the chain also makes it a popular place to leave a yacht through the hurricane season.

Where's best to anchor for a night at Grenada?

True Blue Bay and Clarke’s Court Bay, both on the sheltered south coast, are the most popular overnight stops, close to the marinas and restaurants around Woburn Bay. Hog Island, just offshore, adds a laid-back, informal beach-bar scene reachable only by boat. Port Louis Marina, inside St George’s own lagoon, puts guests within walking distance of the Carenage for those who prefer a berth in town.

How many days are worth spending at Grenada?

Three to four nights let guests properly combine a day of hiking or the Belmont Estate cocoa tour inland with time snorkelling the sculpture park and relaxing on Grand Anse. Grenada also anchors the southern end of a wider Grenadines itinerary, so many charters use it as a base to provision and clear customs before or after sailing north to Carriacou and the Tobago Cays.

Can you see nesting turtles in Grenada?

Yes. Levera Beach, on the island’s northeast tip, is one of the Eastern Caribbean’s most important leatherback turtle nesting sites, with females coming ashore most nights between April and July to lay their eggs. Licensed guides run night tours during the season, keeping a respectful distance and using red light rather than white so as not to disturb the turtles. Outside nesting season, the beach and its national park remain a quiet, little-visited corner of the island.
