The seventy metre motor yachts solve a specific problem. A group of twelve wants the full spread of a superyacht, a spa, a cinema, a proper beach club, and still wants to berth in Monaco during the Grand Prix and slip into Portofino in August. At around two hundred and thirty feet the answer is still yes to both.
Eighteen motor yachts sit in this bracket and they are less alike than the length suggests. Feadship builds Lunasea, Nectar and Vassa with the volume of a far larger hull, Benetti brings Seanna, Calex and Triumph, and Okto reads almost austere beside them. Lady Vera and Sycara V from Nobiskrug go the other way entirely. Twelve guests across five to seven cabins, with sixteen to twenty two crew.
Weekly rates run from three hundred and fifteen thousand euros to eight hundred and seventy five thousand, with the median close to five hundred and fifty thousand and most of the fleet between four hundred and fifty and six hundred and eighty thousand. An advance provisioning allowance near thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks. Refit year moves the number more than length does.
Stabilised at zero speed and quick enough to reposition overnight, these hulls make a week feel longer than it is. Summer runs the South of France, Corsica, Sardinia, the Amalfi coast and the Dodecanese. From late autumn the fleet works Saint Barths, Antigua and the Grenadines.
