Antiparos and the central Cyclades are classic sailing territory. The summer meltemi from the northwest makes the Cyclades a natural destination for experienced crews and guests who enjoy genuine passage-making; the Antiparos Straits offer one of the best sheltered channels in the group, providing a route between Paros and Antiparos that the meltemi barely reaches. Eight sailing yachts currently charter in the Greek fleet, and those routing through the central Cyclades make Antiparos a natural overnight stop.nnSailing into Antiparos from the north through the straits is a memorable arrival: the channel narrows to less than a nautical mile, the water lightens to turquoise above a sandy bottom, and the village appears ahead framed by white windmill-capped hills. The anchorage off the main quay takes ten or fifteen yachts comfortably at anchor, and the holding in sand is reliable. From here, the island’s beaches, the famous stalactite cave and the hiking tracks across the interior are all within reach on foot or by tender.nnWeekly sailing charter rates in the Cyclades range from approximately 15,000 to 120,000 euros. Add an APA of 30 percent for provisions and marina fees, which are lower at Antiparos than at the more popular Cycladic ports.
