Paddleboards are the most used piece of kit on a charter yacht and the least discussed. Two hundred and five yachts in our fleet carry them, from twenty four metres up to the hundred and twenty six metre Octopus, with a median length of forty nine metres.
The appeal is that a board needs nothing. No fuel, no crew supervision, no licence and no noise, which makes it the thing guests reach for first thing in the morning before the yacht properly wakes up. Most yachts carry between two and six, usually inflatable so they stow flat rather than eating tender garage space. A hundred and seventy five of these yachts are motor and thirty are sailing. Benetti leads with eighteen, then Feadship with twelve and Amels with nine.
Rates run from eighteen thousand five hundred euros a week to three and a half million, with the median at two hundred and ten thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of around thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks. Boards themselves cost nothing to run, which is part of why almost every yacht in this bracket carries them.
