Propriano lies at the head of the Gulf of Valinco on the south-west coast of Corsica, one of the deepest and most sheltered natural inlets on the island. The port has a dedicated superyacht berth on the main quay and a marina that can accommodate vessels up to around 45 metres. From Propriano, a motor yacht has direct access to the beaches of Campomoro in the south, the calanques of the Sartene coastline, and a straightforward run to Bonifacio and the Strait within two to three hours.
The Gulf of Valinco itself offers some of the most varied day-sailing and anchoring in southern Corsica. The bay at Baracci just north of Propriano has thermal springs that reach the sea floor, and the beach there is wide and sandy with easy tender access. Further south, the Campomoro promontory is dominated by a Genoese tower and flanked by beaches that can only be reached by water in high summer. Motor yachts in the 40-to-55-metre range work this coast particularly well, combining enough speed for a run to Bonifacio and back with the draft to enter the shallower anchorages.
Weekly charter rates for motor yachts operating from Propriano range from 50,000 to 350,000 euros. Budget 30 percent for the advance provisioning allowance, which covers fuel, food, berthing at the superyacht quay, and local dues. High season is July and August; June and September are warm, quieter and represent better value.
