Sixty metres is the point at which a charter yacht becomes a genuinely large vessel. At close to one hundred and ninety seven feet, these yachts carry four or five decks, a crew of thirteen to twenty, and a volume that allows twelve guests to use the yacht simultaneously and independently without ever competing for space.
What sixty metres buys is separation. A master suite occupying most of a private deck, a VIP that would be the master on a smaller yacht, and guest cabins that no longer feel like a lower deck compromise. Beyond the accommodation the facilities become properly institutional: a spa with sauna, steam and treatment room, a gym with a view, a cinema, a beach club with fold-out terraces on three sides, a touch-and-go helipad on many, and a tender fleet of three or four including a limousine and a chase boat.
Rates run from roughly four hundred thousand to a million euros a week, plus an advance provisioning allowance near thirty percent in which fuel is a significant component. At this size the crew is the product as much as the yacht, and the difference between a good captain and an outstanding one is felt daily.
