Ekincik Superyacht Charter

Ekincik is a beautiful and tranquil bay on the southwestern coast of Turkey, a peaceful haven of pine-clad hills and clear water set amid some of the loveliest scenery on the Turquoise Coast. Sheltered and unspoilt, it offers a serene anchorage and a gateway to one of the region’s great natural wonders.

The bay is beautifully protected, ringed by forested slopes that sweep down to clear, calm water ideal for swimming and relaxing at anchor. Its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a favourite overnight stop for yachts cruising the Turkish coast.

Ashore, a handful of welcoming restaurants offer fresh fish and Turkish specialities in a beautiful natural setting, with little else to disturb the peace. The sense of unspoilt nature is profound.

With its sheltered bay, pine-clad scenery and access to the Dalyan Delta, Ekincik is a tranquil highlight of the Turquoise Coast. Guests can anchor in clear water, explore ancient sites and natural wonders and enjoy the unspoilt beauty of this beautiful Turkish bay.

Ekincik Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Ekincik, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When is the best time to charter a yacht to Ekincik?

Late April through October gives calm conditions in Ekincik’s naturally sheltered bay, one of the only protected anchorages between Marmaris and Fethiye. July and August bring the warmest water and the busiest restaurant quay, while May, June and September offer quieter mornings for the tender trip up the Dalyan Delta before the day-tripper boats arrive from Marmaris. Winter storms can make the open coast either side of Ekincik uncomfortable, so most charters visit in spring, summer or autumn.

How do you reach Ekincik for a charter?

Ekincik has no airport of its own, so guests typically fly into Dalaman Airport (DLM), roughly an hour’s drive away, or Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) a little further. Most itineraries have guests join the yacht already moored at Marmaris or Göcek and sail to Ekincik as a stop along the way, since it sits about 18 nautical miles east of Marmaris. A direct road transfer to the bay also works for guests meeting the yacht there.

Is Ekincik Bay a good place to anchor overnight?

Yes. Ekincik, sometimes called Kürkçüler Bay, is regarded as the only properly sheltered anchorage on the long run of coast between Marmaris and the Gulf of Fethiye, with sand holding in 8 to 15 metres of water. The bay’s northeastern corner gives the best protection during the typical summer afternoon breeze. Two shoreside moorings serve visiting yachts, a restaurant quay with around 20 berths and a smaller cooperative pier, both offering fresh water and shore power.

How long should a charter stay at Ekincik?

One night is usually enough to properly enjoy Ekincik itself, but most guests build in a full day for the half-day tender excursion through the Dalyan Delta to Kaunos, the rock tombs and Sultaniye’s mud baths, so two nights is the more common stay. Ekincik works well as a link in a longer route between Marmaris and Göcek or Fethiye rather than a final destination, giving the bay’s calm water a natural place in a wider Turquoise Coast itinerary.

Can guests visit the sea turtle rescue centre near Ekincik?

Yes, DEKAMER, the Sea Turtle Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, sits beside the Dalyan channel a short tender ride from Ekincik and cares for loggerhead and green turtles injured by boat strikes, fishing lines and other coastal hazards before releasing them back to Iztuzu beach nearby. Its small visitor area is open to the public. The beach itself has been protected from building since the 1980s to safeguard the nesting turtles that give it its name.
